skyline.gif  High School:  Generally regarded as the highest achieving comprehensive high school in Oakland, Skyline struggles compared to high achieving schools across the state. Skyline has over 2,100 students.

skyplat.gif Our goals for this year are to work with the administration, students and teachers to have student voices heard in deciding how long the lunch period is. The initial reason why we have chosen to support students in this campaign is because our short lunch period poses another obstacle for student empowerment here at skyline, such examples are:

- very short and limited time to eat lunch
- unhealthy state of mind and body due to lack of food
- high stress levels for students with out a sufficient break
- limited time for important student club meetings
- limited spaces and time for outlets of expression

In order to improve the lunch period we will combine our efforts with the Positive School Climate Committee and Rise-Up Wellness to increase healthier food options and productive activities during lunch. An extended lunch period will supplement these improvements which work to further empower students in the academic realm.

For students at Skyline High School, lunch is more than just a break during the day, but it is also a time for extracurricular activities. Students feel it is important that they are given adequate time to eat and rest, compose his or herself, and participate in the clubs of their choosing. LSO Biographies coming.
